The Ruins at Argens-Minervois

Locks at Argens-Minervois

From Roubia we motored a short distance to the village of Argens-Minervois, anticipating a visit to the 14th century ruins of a chateau, which overlooks the Aude River. But the first order of business was to transit the Argens Locks, a nice start to the morning. It's interesting to note that a large reservoir near Argens feeds into the Canal du Midi.

At Argens, we tied-up along the bank in front of the village and explored its twisting cobble-stone streets.

Walking around the ruins made the imagination run wild; unfortunately, that’s all we had was our imagination since we couldn’t find any information about this site — what took place here? and what lord and lady lived here?

Perhaps the site is so old that its history has been lost to time, at least to those living outside of France. We invite you to enjoy the photos and let your imagination fill in the blanks.

After a nice lunch at a café along the canal, we continued on our way to Homps, our next destination.
